There's just something about this time of year that practically forces us to embrace decorating with Old Glory. Perhaps it's because you've got Memorial Day, Flag Day and July 4th, all within a 6 week span. Or maybe it's because some people think summer and think crisp beachy Nantucket style. Whatever the reason, the kick off to summer always coincides with a bit of red, white and blue.

This is a fun, albeit temporary look. By September, those autumnal hues start a'calling. This room shows how a few touches like the striped pillows, navy throw and flag artwork give a nod to the look without singing "and I'm proud to be an American......!" Start with a neutral base, add a little Americana and compliment with some more modern accents. And don't let me find out you have any of those insipid handpainted signs that read, "Let Freedom Ring".
