Privet House for Target

During the two and half years I spent working out of Stamford, I made a point to check out the shops in nearby Greenwich regularly. They always served as great inspiration for collecting and displaying beautiful pieces.

One store, in particular, that always made my "must visit" list is Privet House. This picture at left shows some simple glassware and silver, but so artfully done.

And now they're part of the Target "Shops" both online and in stores. Here's a few lovelies I found in coral, my favorite color for spring.

Lately, I can't seem to flip through a design magazine without seeing some sort of horse motif in one of the rooms. It's either a sculpture or a painting or a very large scale photograph. Sadly no actual ponies. This month's issue of House Beautiful featured 3 different homes all with a nod (and perhaps a whinny) to our equine friends.

But I'm noticing a new trend. One that seems restricted to the bath for now but may soon, ahem, spread it's wings and branch out to other rooms of the house. Behold, the owl.

Perhaps you've heard the phrase, "the signs are everywhere if you just take the time to look," or some version of that? For those of us not so in tune with our spirituality, we may need something a little more obvious. Especially if you're trying to keep that New Year's Resolution to eat a little better. Thankfully, the good folks at Fishs Eddy have anticipated this need by creating their "Intervention" pattern.

If you're looking for multifunctional furniture, ottomans are an easy way to go. They can live in nearly every room of the house and serve as a coffee table, extra seating or a footrest. In most projects, I include at least one ottoman to interject some interest in a room.

Liberty of London for Target

Target is a frequent landing spot for designers looking to expand their line and customer base. Most of what looks fabulous online looks less so in person. Or maybe I am just not destined to wear Anna Sui. But housewares is a whole different ballgame and the Liberty of London line for Target looks playful and springy. Another design site featured these products this morning as a reminder that as of March 14th, they'll be available to order. Sadly, I'm not able to find anything online yet, but I'll be checking. Because there's a peacock print piggy bank with my name on it.
