I imagine most men feel this way, but pillow "murder" is hardly the answer. There is a better way. While looking through this month's Traditional Home, I noticed these 2 beds and took note of the way they sensibly addressed the pillow situation. Here they used 3 Euro shams in a decorative fabric layered neatly in front of 2 standard pillows. It looks like the regular pillows are wearing shams, but they could easily be dressed in some attractive pillowcases. You've got pattern, interest and a little height--without creating an avalanche of pillows. For a traditional style poster bed, this is about as minimal as you can do while staying true to the look. Because even though I'm a woman and a designer, I think a few less pillows are a good way to go.
