I don't pretend to be the "greenest" gal on the block, but I am always a fan of making the most of your money. That's why I love finding places like the Habitat for Humanity Restores I wrote about a little while back. Bargain hunting you can feel really good about. I recently heard about BIGNYC (Build it Green NYC) and wanted to pass along this resource, too. Like the HFH stores, BIGNYC also sells building materials, salvaged items and furniture. This fantastic reference desk is only $100. Wouldn't it be great in a small home office for you and your spouse to use with laptops? Sometimes those special fixtures are a bit out of reach on a limited budget. But BIGNYC offers the option of brand new at a discounted price--like these gorgeous stone sinks. You could design a whole room around one of these! Those of you planning to redo your kitchen might want to take advantage of their free kitchen demolition service. Not everyone will qualify (you're not the only one who doesn't want those nasty formica cabinets anymore) but it could be an ideal way to save that hefty removal fee. This is your new blog post.
