As promised, here is the finished board for the client project I hinted at last week. My client recently moved into a rental apartment and is looking to update her bedroom. The goal is feminine and sophisticated. Here's the plan:
The bedroom is essentially a beige box with little personality--so I had to find some. The star of the plan is obviously the overdyed purple rug, a gorgeous show stopper and the foundation for the design. It's a bold choice, but with the other large items staying neutral, it won't overpower the room. If she chooses, she can paint the wall behind her bed in the same deep dusky purple to balance out the rug. It's only one wall to paint over before moving out, which is manageable.
The headboard is the big bargain for the room at $89. The purple accent chair is another great piece for $149. That price point is good for an accent chair used in a bedroom--not a chair that's going to get a lot of use in living or family room.
