One of the guys I work with at the day job is always telling me about these "cool, hip, trendy" places he's gone. I like to think I'm taking good advantage of living in LA, until I hear Glen talk about some funky spot that I have yet to go to. So last Thursday, I decided to spend a few hours wandering around the DTLA Arts District. First off, it's definitely an area in transition. Every street had some sort of construction going on as new storefronts and residence buildings come together. Thankfully, most shops have little sandwich board signs pointing you through the rubble to their shops. It makes it more of an adventure that way. I definitely left feeling inspired by the creativity and, as always, hoping for that big lottery win so I could afford more of the beautiful wares on display. My favorite spot is Hammer and Spear, which curates beautiful furnishings and "objects" -say it with the French accent, I insist.
