Goings on 5/6/16

I'm excited for a rare weekend off as I get ready to head down to San Diego for a few days.  My brain is just a jumble of ideas and plans that are coming together over the next few weeks.

Petco Park

This Sunday I will hit number 18 of the 30 MLB ballparks.  Touring the ballparks has also been a great way to see parts of the country I may not have seen otherwise.  I've been to San Diego once before, but this time I get to check one more stadium off the baseball bucket list.  And probably eat lots of fish tacos here.

Client Project

This rug is the foundation for a client project I'll share next week.  Isn't it gorgeous?  That little bit of black makes it sophisticated--which is exactly what my 11 year old client (with her parents' blessing) wants.

Contrary to popular belief, most designers want their clients to have opinions.  A fast no is always easier to work with than a maybe.  It's okay, I didn't weave this rug especially for you.  If you don't like it, tell me why and we'll pick something else.

But in this case, the hot pink shag my client initially wanted was thrown overboard once I showed her this.

Hollyhock House

If Frank Lloyd Wright built it, I want to see it.  I've already visited several of his famous sites, but now that I live on the West Coast, I've got access to more.  First of my list, Hollyhock House.  And the best part, there's always a dramatic story that goes with the build process.

Alaska

Next month I'll be in Alaska for a few days.  Alaska is one of those places I always thought would be interesting to see, but never thought I'd make it to.  Thanks for the discount fares Jet Blue.

The lodging still needs to be booked and I've narrowed it down to the town of Talkeetna to have easy access to Denali and some salmon fishing.  Hotel location is so critical when planning a trip and the Alaska season is short, but I'm confident there's some solid options available.
