Anthropologie retail store in London This entry is not so much design as it is gardening. Considering I have the "black thumb of death" (seriously, I managed to kill a catctus), it's a little surprising for me to write about gardening type issues. But one trend that I've noticed in both retail design and backyard design is vertical gardens. Display at AD Home Show It's unusual and I'm guessing only certain types of plants can survive this way. Do you water it with a hose? Even in a store? Okay, probably not. I guess Anthropologie figured a wall of English Ivy in their new London location would have been a bit too "expected". Like most trends, if the public doesn't get it, and fast, it will be out almost as quickly as it came in.

I love this (even though I also have a black thumb of death). I saw something similar in a magazine recently. They were called Woolly Pockets, and they accomplish pretty much the same thing, except they're modular and can be used indoors or outdoors. Thinking of trying them out. If I can figure out how to water them. Comments are closed.
