On many a Tuesday night at 10pm you can find me watching "The Good Wife" on CBS. I enjoy a good legal drama, especially when it comes with a side of excellent set design. The picture here is of the dining room featured on the program. Not much action takes place in this room, but the grid of botanical artwork on the right pops up frequently as the backdrop. I've added another shot to give a better idea.
I've had it in mind for a while that I wanted to do a grid of artwork on one of my walls to add some interest but wasn't quite sure what to do. I thought briefly about pictures from the different stadiums I've visited but the best of those photographs are in black and white and what I need is some color.
Then I was in Barnes and Noble the other day and spotted a beautiful hardcover book with bookplates featuring shellfish, mollusks and other sea life. There are easily 50 plates for me to choose from and the colors, while muted, are rich. I plan to take 12 of the best and frame them--3 rows of 4. If you've got a large wall to fill, I highly recommend going this route. You can get great deals now (after the holidays) on beautiful coffee table books and calendars. The images are ideal for this project and usually come in sizes that are easy to frame.
